Halloween Ragamuffin Parade – Tomorrow, Saturday, October 25th.
Sponsored by the Village Recreation Department and the Briarcliff Manor Fire Department. The parade will be held tomorrow, Saturday, October 25th at 9:30 AM, with children in costume marching down Pleasantville Road from the Operating Engineers Building just north of Popular Road to the firehouse. The Halloween parade concludes with entertainment. A light snack and treats will be provided to all participants. Hope to see you there!
North County Trailway.
Due to the HVAC construction project happening at the Library, access to the North County Trailway next to the Library is temporarily closed for approximately two months. Please park at the Youth Center located at 5 Van Lu Van Road and use the trailway connection available at that location. Signage has been posted.
The Harlem Magic Masters Are Back!
The Briarcliff Rotary Club will again be sponsoring their annual fundraiser, a wonderful event featuring the world-famous Magic Masters basketball team playing against a local all-star team of Briarcliff area parents, teachers, and local celebrities.
It will take place at the Briarcliff High School gymnasium (444 Pleasantville Road, Briarcliff Manor) on Friday, November 7th at 7:00 PM!
Attendees can see a game filled with trick shots, half-court three-pointers, mesmerizing ball handling, and just a ton of laughs for all ages. There will be concessions sold by the Rotary Club, and souvenir clothing, basketballs and more sold by the Magic Masters. As always, the halftime show will include participation by some of the children from the crowd.
Tickets for the Basketball Extravaganza are only $20, and they will be available at the Briarcliff Recreation Department up until the day of the event, and you can also reserve seats with tickets to be held at the door by calling, texting or emailing Eric Lebenson at 914-924-3596 or ericlebenson@gmail.com. Babysitting Safety Tips.
Having a babysitter can give you peace of mind. It allows you to leave your child with someone you trust. Be sure your babysitter knows about fire safety. Be sure your babysitter knows what to do if there is a fire or EMS emergency.
Show the babysitter your home escape plan and make sure the babysitter understands:
- Two ways out of every room.
- Where the outdoor meeting place is located.
- The fire department or emergency phone number – 911
- Be sure the babysitter knows the address of the home.
- How to unlock all doors and windows.
If you allow your babysitter to cook, make sure the babysitter:
- Keeps your child at least 3 feet away from the stove.
- Keeps your child at least 3 feet away from the microwave oven.
- Never leaves the room while cooking.
- Keeps anything that can catch fire away from the stovetop.
- Keeps pets off surfaces and countertops.
If the smoke alarm sounds make sure your babysitter knows to:
- Get out of the home quickly with your child to safety.
- Use the second way out if smoke is in the way.
- Get low and go under the smoke to the exit if an escape must be made through smoke.
Store matches and lighters out of your child’s reach. Candles should not be used by your babysitter. Make sure your babysitter keeps a 3-foot “kid-free zone” around space heaters.
Remember to always leave your babysitter the phone number where you can be reached.
