Water Valve Inspections – Possible Brief Low Pressure Tomorrow Morning
The Briarcliff Manor Water Department will be performing water valve inspections in the Ingham, Washburn, Carleton, Stonington Heights area tomorrow starting around 8:00 a.m.
We do not expect to shut off water service, but you may experience low water pressure or discolored water for short periods (5–10 minutes at a time) during the testing.
In the unlikely event water needs to be shut off, it would only be for a very brief time.
If you notice discolored water, please run cold water until it clears.
Email questions to dpw@briarcliffmanor.gov - if you experience long term effects and/or long-term water disruption, call the Briarcliff Manor Police Non-Emergency Line at 914-941-2130
We appreciate your patience and understanding while this important work is completed.

Thanksgiving is Almost Here!
The Fire Chief would like to remind you of a few simple safety tips to follow during the Thanksgiving holiday.
- Thanksgiving is the peak day for home cooking fires.
- Remain in the kitchen when you are cooking on the stovetop so you can keep an eye on the food.
- Stay in the home when cooking your turkey and check on it frequently.
- Keep children away from the stove. The stove will be hot so children should stay 3 feet away.
- Make sure children stay away from hot food and liquids. The steam or splash from vegetables, gravy or coffee could cause serious burns.
- Never leave children alone in room with a lit candle.
- Make sure your smoke alarms are working. Test them by pushing the test button.
Fried Turkeys are delicious, but they come with a slew of safety issues. Thousands of fires as well as many deaths and injuries happen each year due to turkey fryer fires. Before you set up your turkey fryer this Thanksgiving, remember these safety tips.
- Stay Away from The House – Set up the turkey fryer more than 10 feet away from your home and keep children and pets away. Never leave it unattended.
- Find Flat Ground – The oil must be even and steady at all times to ensure safety. Place the fryer on a flat, level surface and carefully gauge the amount of oil needed.
- Use a Thawed and Dry Turkey – Make sure your Thanksgiving turkey is completely thawed and dry. Extra water will cause the oil to bubble furiously and spill over. If oil spills from the fryer onto the burner, it can cause a fire.
- Monitor the Temp – Use caution when touching the turkey fryer. The lid and handle can become very hot and could cause burns. Also, be sure to keep track of the oil’s temperature as many fryers do not have their own thermostats.
- Be Prepared – Have a fire extinguisher (multipurpose, dry-powder) ready at all times in the event that the oil ignites.
