Vacant House Checks.

The Briarcliff Manor Police Department would like to remind residents who will be away from their homes for an extended period, especially during the Winter months, of the importance of maintaining their property while vacant.

If you have requested, or plan to request, vacant house checks, please ensure the following steps are taken before and during your absence:

  • Arrange for driveways to be plowed promptly after snowfall
  • Ensure sidewalks and walkways are cleared of snow and ice
  • Maintain the general appearance of occupancy, such as timely snow removal and exterior upkeep

These measures help create the appearance that someone is home, which can deter criminal activity.  Additionally, keeping driveways and walkways clear is essential for officer safety when conducting property checks during Winter conditions.

If you haven’t already, consider registering your home with the Briarcliff Manor Police Department’s Dark House Program before you travel by visiting this link

Everbridge

Everbridge Weather Alerts.

Everbridge weather alerts are now enabled for Village communications, giving residents an additional way to receive timely notifications when certain weather conditions may affect Briarcliff Manor. To avoid “alert fatigue,” the Village is being judicious about which weather-related alerts will be automatically sent to the community.

At launch, only a limited set of higher-impact alerts will be enabled, and the Village will continue to monitor how well they serve residents. As we gain experience, we may revise these settings—adding, refining, or removing certain alert types based on usefulness and community feedback.

Residents are encouraged to ensure their Everbridge contact information and notification preferences are up to date, so messages reach them in the way they prefer.

If you have feedback on which alerts you find most helpful, please share it with the Village Manager (villagemanager@briarcliffmanor.gov) so we can continue improving the system.
